MACHINE OPERATOR

Job Summary:

The main goal of a machine operator is to assist in the production of mechanical fasteners by operating machines such as CNC mills, CNC lathes, and saws. This includes setting up the tooling and fixturing on a machine for a job, loading and unloading parts, and organizing jobs. Entry-level operators typically run simple, repetitive parts, but may be able to advance to more complex parts as they gain experience. Additionally, machine operators are expected to treat others with respect and have a team player attitude. At times, they may need to assist in additional tasks such as retrieving inventory, packaging parts, and unloading trucks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate various machines (CNC mills, CNC lathes, saws, etc.)

• Set up the tooling and fixturing on machines for running jobs

• Load and unload parts from machines

• Organize jobs to run efficiently through the workstation

• Work with the shop manager and coworkers to complete tasks

• Finish jobs in a timely manner

Qualifications:

Technical skills can be learned on the job. However, basic machining skills are preferred. Applicants will need to be able to perform basic math calculations and fraction conversion.
